Diffraction of Light on Inhomogeneous Multilayer Holographic Diffraction Structures in Photopolymer Liquid Crystal Compositions

Abstract: A theoretical model is presented for the diffraction of quasi-monochromatic light beams by spatially inhomogeneous multilayer diffraction structures that form in a photopolymer material with encapsulated liquid crystals. The selective response of such a multilayer diffraction structure can be controlled dynamically by applying an electric field to each layer. Selecting the optimum composition eliminates possible distortions of the selectivity by obtaining identical grating profiles along the depth of the layers as they are recorded.
