Impedance Transformers Simulation for Matching of Cascades of L-band SAR ERS Power Amplifiers

The results of modeling of matching transformers for application in semiconductor power amplifiers, which are part of the modules of the L-band SAR ERS transmission path, are presented. The questions of transformer adjustment with variation of the matched impedance up to the ratio 50:1.3 are considered. The frequency characteristics of the step-down, step-up and back-to-back transformers connection are presented. It is shown that in the frequency range of 25-30%, return losses value of minus 20 dB can be obtained. The measurement results of the response of a transformer layout by the pulse action are presented. These results allowed to estimate the values of wave impedances of the transformer sections.
